Women Against Violence and Exploitation in Society Sierra Leone (WAVES-SL) annual organizational retreat was held at the Galliness Paradise hotel in the Southern part of Sierra Leone from the 18th to 20th December, 2024.
Day one of the retreat started with a call to order by the Programme Manager, followed by prayer.
The Executive Director started up by welcoming all staff to the retreat, and profoundly extended her appreciation for the commitment and excellent work of all staff, thus so far. She openly gave thanks to the almighty God for keeping everybody (Staff), and she prayed that God continue to keep all the staff as we go into another year viz. 2025.
She furthered by openly, genuinely apologizing to all staff and also requested for all staff to forgive her and other staff as we enter into a new year; and encouraged everyone to diligently treat the entire retreat exercise very seriously and meaningfully.
On the specified date and at the same venue aforementioned; staff of WAVES-SL started officially their THREE DAYS retreat with Policy Development, after submissions of the Executive Director as espoused above.
During this session; all policies as formulated previously were reviewed satisfactorily.
Policies like: 1. Sexual harassment 2. Child protection 3. Child safeguarding. 4. Anti-fraud theft and many more.
Moreover, day two and three we dealt with various topics that will help to foster the growth of the organization namely: Policy Development 2. Strategy 3. Programs 4. Finance strategy 5. Stress and Sensitive Trauma Approach (STA) and finally Communications. These sessions were handled by Project Officers and communications Officer.
Finally, the closure of this session the Executive Director cautioned every staff that come 2025, we are going to do more than what we have been doing in the past years In conclusion various impute were made by staff. The program ended up with an intensive prayer and Christmas Carol.
