Our Monitoring, Evaluation And Learning

WAVES is transitioning from Activities to Outcomes & Impact

WAVES has a well-established MEL system that has until recently focused primarily on process orientated project management and delivery. The current monitoring system as it is has some shortcomings. These ranges from the need for greater community involvement in the process, other appropriate information gathering methods, analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and interpretation of this data, methods for capturing lessons from program work and how they may be integrated into WAVES’ way of working.

As part of the new strategic direction WAVES now places strong emphasis on: –

  1. being able to demonstrate impact and change brought about as a result of WAVES’ work, or at least the contribution WAVES has made to improving women’s lives.
  2. capture lessons learnt from our work and incorporate these into programs, and
  3. build the capacity of WAVES staff and communities to carry out outcome harvesting and impact monitoring and capture salient lessons.
