WAVES-SL concluded three days training on Comprehensive #Sexuality Education for teachers, mentors, and some community stakeholders drawn from Tondorya and Nengbema in the Niawa Lenga Chiefdom Bo District – to enable the participants especially parents and teachers to break the #taboo and start teaching their children about sexuality focusing on the components that make up human sexuality.

This is part of WAVES contribution to complementing Government’s efforts to ensure girls retention and completion of school thereby reducing the rate of teenage pregnancy and prevention of STIs among young people.

The training explored how culture and society control sexuality, especially for girls /women.

Some of the key topics that were treated at the three days engagement are: Defining Comprehensive Sexuality Education, Gender & Sexuality, Knowing & Valuing our Sexual Organs, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, STIs, Peer pressure and Sexuality, Controversial issues in Sexuality etc.

It could be recalled that similar training was held in Bo in December last year for Six Secondary Schools.

The teachers have begun implementing lessons learnt from the said training and are already engaging their children and the public through the radio.
