Three days training program was held at the Don Bosco great hall for twenty (20) mentors, for 20 female mentors who will lead Girl Shine groups across 5 WAGE project communities (Yambama, Kpuwabu, Gbandi, Mogibisi and Ngolu) in 3 chiefdoms (Valunia, Gbo and Baoma) of Bo District.

Madam Hannah Fatmata Yambasu, Executive Director of Women Against Violence and Exploitation in Society in Sierra Leone (WAVES-SL), has been a vocal advocate for women’s rights and empowerment.  She further mentioned that WAGE project aligns perfectly with WAVES-SL mission to protect women and girls from violence and exploitation. We believe that empowering women and girls through education, economic opportunities, and social support is crucial for creating a safe and progressive society. We’re committed to working with partners like-minded institutions to advance women’s rights and promote sustainable development in Sierra Leone.

Given Madam Yambasu passion for women’s empowerment and her leadership role in WAVES-SL, it’s likely that she would express enthusiasm for initiatives supporting women’s rights and development

The following days, the Safe Space Mentor Training in Bo District kicked off with an energizing recap session, as our 20 dedicated female mentors reflected on the powerful lessons from the first and the last day. Participants shared key takeaways from previous sessions, demonstrating their growing understanding of: The fundamental principles of Child Rights and protection.  Recognizing and responding to child abuse.
